Where are the dinners held? We're currently focused on the Bay Area but will host ad hoc dinners in other cities as required. We work with a variety of high-quality restaurants in different tier price ranges to accommodate every budget. Trust us, you won't be disappointed.

How do I pay for my meal? We don't really like prix-fixe meals even though that would allow a more seamless payment experience. The best part of eating out is being able to order exactly what you want. When you choose to attend a dinner, we let the restaurant know that everyone is paying separately.

Why the membership cost of $10 a month? We want you to have the best possible experience and that requires time in handpicking the groups. It also helps prevent people from flaking which leads to a subpar dinner experience. We want members who are committed to meeting new people once a month.

What if I have a bad experience? Please, please let us know at thecaptain@captainstable.co. We reach out after every meal for feedback and take action on it.

Is this for meeting new people, networking, or dating? It's really for meeting awesome new people and having a great dining experience with those people once a month. If you join with the explicit intention of only networking or dating without being excited about meeting new people in general, you won't get as much out of the experience.

What if someone is using this for networking and hounds me? Part of our group making process is considering the value that everyone will get from meeting the rest of the group. We want everyone to have a good time and will remove people who attend dinners in the wrong spirit from the service.

Why don't you tell me who I'm going to dinner with? This is to prevent flaking and increase the mystery. You never know who could be coming to dinner.

What if I only want to exchange contact info with one person after the dinner? Isn't that awkward for the others? Don't ask for it at the dinner. We send everyone an email after the dinner asking who they'd like to stay in touch with, if both people opt in, we'll exchange the contact info for you.
